Wood sales
Load of Wood
A load of wood is classified as a generous two piece layer, a couple heaping wheelbarrows full (probably a bit more than you expect). If you are in doubt take a few more pieces.
Loads should be purchased ahead of time, to ensure we have enough wood for all on site. Wood will be available for purchase throughout the event, but must be done online (gate will not have cash). A wheelbarrow or cart may be available for transporting wood to your campsite but you should bring your own if possible. (If you use one drop off your wood and return it immediately)
Cage of Wood
A “cage” is a 275 gal IBC tote cage or plastic core. It holds roughly 1/3 a cord.
2024 was the first year for cages and it was a great starting point for theme camp purchases.
For delivery put your camp name and contact in your order. If you are not a “theme camp” make sure you register your camp/shared resources group for placement.
Cage wood orders stop ~2-3 weeks prior to the event.
Wood Notes
No Out of County Wood
You may purchase wood from a local vendor of your choice. Contact support or on discord to arrange delivery.
Local regulations to prevent the spread of invasive pests prohibit movement of firewood.
How Much Wood
Unless you have burn barrels; multiple fire pits; are heating with wood; or have prior Frostburn experience, you are unlikely to use more than a tote of wood.
Leftover Wood
Place leftover wood in the nearest IBC tote, it will be recovered for future use.
There are no refunds for unused wood, size your purchases appropriately.
Where do the Ashes go?
Fully burn your wood to reduce embers and unburnt chunks.
Ashes need to be fully cooled before disposal; cooling can take 48 hours for embers in ash.
You can take your ash with you in a lidded metal container and use it to make soap.
If you had a clean fire (no glass, metal, plastic) you can dump your ash on the burn scar.
Wet it with water, stir it to make sure it is cold (if the water hisses it’s not cold), and spread it with a metal rake.
